Making excuses

I have heard just about every excuse that someone can make over 18 years to get out of training or to cancel. As a Cairns Personal trainer, I always ask people once I get to know them to be honest with themselves whether they really need to cancel or they making an excuse in their mind to get out of it. It can be an uncomfortable conversation, however in the end the clients will only be doing themselves a disservice.

This is because it won't allow them to have consistency with their training. Eventually the client will thank me for having that conversation as I can see there is maladaptive. Personal Traning is not just about getting people to do the exercise in the correct fashion/proper technique. It’s also about having pain resilience and having the correct mindset to get the most optimum results.

Prior to becoming a Personal trainer in Melbourne and Queensland I spent many years doing strength work cardiovascular work and neglected stretching.

I realised after studying the importance of flexibility for mobility power and to limit injuries when you do strength work for years your muscles become stronger but also shorter so when you don’t elongate them, through stretching it limits your range of movement.

It certainly wise to stretch on a regular basis in particular as you get older and if you want to be the most effective in whatever activity you engaging. I always finish off a session with my clients stretching them out and explaining the benefits. As a can Personal Trainer it also makes it much easier to stretch considering it’s warm most of the so it doesn’t feel as arduous to stretch. The proof is in the pudding, try it out for a few months and you will notice a considerable difference to how you get around.
